IN ORDER TO BE SAFE...

"...In these works the artist acts as reporter, using frantic lines of chalk to describe how machine guns work, where drug cartels are located, and how individuals experience violence. Flores's imagery appears on green schoolroom-style chalkboards as if they were tutorials taken from a place or military training site. Chalk as a medium is important not only for its educational connotations but because, as the artist states, -the ephemeral quality of chalk speaks to the physical vulnerability of violence."

Alex Freeman, curator.
